Young Male Voters! Abortion And Contraception Bans= Child Support.

Young men recently interviewed at the Lansing, Michigan local union #85 admitted that they aren’t focusing on the abortion/ contraception issue. Many of the young men interviewed sounded ignorant to the reality of how their lives and futures could be affected by the Trump/ MAGA policies which take away women’s reproductive freedoms. They also did not make the connection between these bans and the potential impact on their personal finances and their sexual practices.

Let’s ask Mr. Trump if there should be ” punishment”, for men who lie about having impregnated a woman to avoid responsibilty for their actions. Creepy, predominantly white men having control over a woman’s reproductive freedom is an icky boundary intrusion that is based on religious extremism and misogyny. If this attack on women’s freedoms is going to exist in our democracy, it must expand to restrict the sexual and reproductive freedoms of men.

SOME OF THE REALITIES OF THE IMPACT OF ABORTION BANS AND CONTRACEPTION BANS ON MEN:

Unwanted pregnancies occurring from casual sex
Paternity lawsuits against men despite their age, financial status, or health
Financial repercussions that will keep young men having to live with their parents, limit the chances of buying a home, and restrict social and travel opportunities
Restrict the number of desired, sexual experiences for fear of pregnancy
Eliminate the experience of sex without condoms.
Increase the chances of future, retaliatory legislation by pro- choice lawmakers that will equally restrict the rights of a man’s reproductive freedoms, such as ban’s on condoms and vasectomies
The pain of watching the women they care about suffer the medical dangers, emotional harm, and potential loss of life or future fertility that results from banning abortion healthcare

For a man to stay ignorant or passive about the impact of the Trump Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v Wade is unacceptable and unattractive to the majority of women in America. Passivity or indifference on this issue feels hostile or demeaning to women. If a man wants freedom from government control over his body, he must support the same equality for women.

MEN WHO HIDE BEHIND CHRISTIAN BELIEFS IN THEIR SUPPORT OF ABORTION BANS AREN’T FOOLING WOMEN. IT’S ABOUT THEIR POWER, CONTROL, DOMINANCE AND SENSE OF SUPERIORITY OVER WOMEN. IF THESE OLD, WHITE LAWMAKERS WERE AUTHENTICALLY CHRISTIAN, THEY WOULDN’T BE PROMOTING RACIST POLICIES, BREAKING LAWS AND ETHICAL PRACTICES, AND SPEWING DIVISIVE RHETORIC AGAINST OTHERS WHO HOLD OPPOSING VIEWS ON ISSUES. THE HYPOCRISY IS BLATANT.
