Trump’s Racist Treatment of Central Park Five Exposed

Trump’s racist, cruel treatment of the Central Park Five should clarify to Black male voters what Trump’s true feelings are towards Black men.

The Central Park 5 know the racist hatred that Trump is capable of inflicting. They experienced it, survived it, and have lived to see Trump become a convicted felon.

Forty-five wanted us un-alive,” said Yousef Salaam, a member of the Central Park 5.   Referring to Trump, at the DNC, . “The 45th President, he wanted us dead.”

“He has never changed and he never will.” Salaam, was elected last year as a councilman for a central Harlem district.( August 22, 2024).7

For decades,  the New York media fed into the myth that real estate mogul Donald Trump’s opinion on current events had credibility.  Example:  DNA cleared the wrongfully accused Central Park Five and Donald Trump refused to concede they were innocent. The true attacker confessed, but Trump relentlessly continued his public opposition to their exoneration and release from prison. His persistent attacks on them made an already difficult re-entry back into society more traumatic. Had the races of the accused been reversed in the scenario,  Trump would have embraced the DNA evidence and confession and celebrated the release of five white men wrongfully accused of raping and beating a black woman. Prior to election day, black men, who currently see Trump as macho and a friend to blacks, should look at his history of negatively targeting black individuals, groups, and countries.
Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Kharey Wise,  became known as the Central Park Five. They served between six and thirteen years collectively for the crime of raping a 28 year-old jogger in Central Park in 1990. They were exonerated on Dec, 19, 2002 because DNA evidence found that Matias Reyes committed the crime (Time Magazine, May, 2018, Olivia B. Waxman). Despite the exoneration, Trump spent tens of thousands of dollars on media ads to promote the narrative that the boys committed the crime. His attacks on the five prove that Trump’s narcissistic grandiosity and racism are deep-seated, lifelong evidence of his flawed character.

Backed up by evidence, Donald Trump looks at black people through a negative, stereotypical, racist lens. Black countries are ” shithole countries”. Black men that are victimized or killed by police are seen as instigators of the escalating  violence. Black people in positions of power like mayors, politicians, and members of the media have been made targets of violence by Trump’s racist rhetoric. During the Central Park Five trial, Trump published an article titled. BRING BACK THE DEATH PENALTY.

A HISTORY OF TRUMP’S NEGATIVE RHETORIC TOWARDS BLACK MEN AND THE BLACK COMMUNITY

  • Downplayed police violence against Black people, saying “more white people” are killed by police officers.( Reuters, 2020).
  • I’ve done more for Black Americans than anybody with the possible exception of Abraham Lincoln“.
  • Criticizing Rep. Elija Cummings, Trump said “If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place.”
  • Spread the conspiracy theory that the first black President, Barack Obama, was not born in the United States
  • Said blacks loved his mugshot because they can identify with his indictments
  • Called black populated countries ” shithole countries”.
  • Trump: ‘Black Lives Matter is a ‘symbol of hate‘. ( Politico, May 2020).
  • Falsely claimed that Barack Obama had his phones wire-tapped, but produced no proof
  • Stereotypically assumed his gold, gaudy sneakers would especially appeal to all the blacks
  • In the seventies Trump and his father, known to have associated with the Ku Klux Klan, were fined for discriminating against black people applying to be tenants in apartments owned by the Trumps.

TRUMP DOES NOT DENOUNCE WHITE NATIONALISM AND THE SUPPORT OF THOSE HATE GROUPS. HE SUPPORTS SELF-PROCLAIMED WHITE NATIONALIST MEMBERS OF CONGRESS LIKE PAUL GOSAR AND MARJORIE TAYLOR GREEN. HE LIES TO THE JEWISH AND BLACK COMMUNITIES OF HIS LOVE AND RESPECT FOR THEM. HOWEVER, HIS RACIAL RHETORIC AND NON-REACTION TO ANTI-SEMITISM AND HATRED FOR BLACK POLITICAL GROUPS THAT OPPOSE HIM IS A WARNING THAT IF ELECTED PRESIDENT, HE WON’T PROTECT THOSE COMMUNITIES.
