Biden Passes the Torch to Harris at Dem Convention

The Highlight Of The Democratic Convention was the admiration and gratitude shown to President Joe Biden as he passed the torch to Kamala Harris.

An emotional President Biden recounted his accomplishments as president and his gratitude for the opportunity to serve his country for 50 years. His character, compassion, and selfless patriotism shown throughout his historical speech and the crowd honored him with a prolonged, 4 1/2 minute chant of “We Love You, Joe”. Listening to Biden’s accomplishments was a reminder of the consequential nature of his presidency. With class and integrity, he touted the role Harris played in his legislative accomplishments and enthusiastically encouraged the crowd to support her and Tim Walz.

Biden passionately urged Americans to vote for Harris and Walz and warned of the danger of another Trump presidency. He brought up Trump’s comments about Nazi’s marching in Charlottesville being “good people, his role in the Jan. 6th insurrection, his 34 felony convictions, and his policies that enrich billionaires, and ignore the middle class. Biden delivered his content rich speech with a forceful, passionate tone. The convention attendees reacted to his words with expressions of love and exuberance. At one point, Biden was moved to tears. Near the end of his speech he mentioned that he started his career too young, and is ending his career too old to continue to serve. He quoted this passage from the poem American Anthem:

In an emotional good-bye,  President Joe Biden modeled how a real man and authentic patriot acts. Toxic men, like Trump and millions of his male followers, got schooled in positive masculinity and whattrue love of country looks like. To close his speech, he quoted this passage from the poem American Anthem:

The work and prayers of centuries/ Have brought us to this day/ What shall be our legacy?/ What will our children say?” Let them say of me/ I was one who believed/ In sharing the blessings I received/ Let me know in my heart/ When my days are through/ America, America I gave my best to you.”

Biden promised the crowd he was committed to negotiating a cease-fire in Gaza and would continue to work to strengthen the middle class. He ended with the promise he would be “the best volunteer” for the Harris campaign against Republican rival Donald Trump.

Hillary proclaimed, “Trump is on the run” and the crowd chanted “lock him up”. Hillary did not join the chanting, but she did smirk and seemed to enjoy the irony of Trump’s legal peril. She delivered a powerful speech which included praise and gratitude to President Biden and disdain for Trump’s attack on democracy.
