Georgia Special Grand Jury Foreman Emily Kohrs Spoke Out Last Week In The Media Indicating The Jury Will Be Recommending At Least 12 Indictments To District Attorney Fanni Willis. Without Naming Names, She Described The Behavior Of Some Witnesses, How Prosecutors Interacted With Witnesses And How Some Witnesses Refused To Answer Certain Questions. Legal Experts Have Criticized Her For Speaking Out, However, The Judge In The Proceedings Has Said Ms. Kohrs Was Legally Allowed To Speak Of Her Experience And Did Not Violate The Parameters Of His Instructions. Trump Is Freaking Out.
Trump is hoping Emily Kohr’s highly criticized media appearances will free him from prosecution in Georgia, However, legal experts say ultimately it will not influence what DA Fanni Willis does with the evidence the special grand jury discovered. The jury heard testimony of 75 witnesses and satisfied the criteria of the judge overseeing the proceedings. Trump blasted off on his social media platform Truth Social saying, “This Georgia case is ridiculous, a strictly political continuation of the greatest Witch Hunt of all time, Now you have an extremely energetic young woman, the (get this!) ‘foreperson’ of the Racist D.A.’s Special Grand Jury, going around and doing a Media Tour revealing, incredibly, the Grand Jury’s inner workings & thoughts. This is not JUSTICE, this is an illegal Kangaroo Court. Atlanta is leading the Nation in Murder and other Violent Crimes. All I did is make TWO PERFECT PHONE CALLS!!!”
Ms. Kohr’s giggled and made faces during some of her media appearances which Trump attorneys have cited as reason to discount any of the findings the grand jury discovered. However, the prosecutors conducting the testimonies of the witnesses are said to have acted credibly and the evidence gathered is not damaged by Ms. Kohr’s decision to speak out. Trump attorney’s are also attacking the credibility of the jury because prosecutors allowed the jurists to to watch and read news but instructed them to keep an open mind.
A special grand jury gathers evidence and produces and delivers a report to a district attorney with recommendations regarding whether to issue indictments. A charging grand jury has the authority to issue indictments. A trial jury decides on the innocence or guilt of a person charged with a crime. The special grand jury, like other juries, are comprised of people who represent a cross-section of the general population. This is another way a democracy empowers the people. Donald Trump has a history of attacking our legal system when he loses and praises it when he wins. Calling this special grand jury a “kangaroo” proceeding is a tactic he hopes will distract from its incriminating findings of the election interference attempt in his “imperfect” call asking for votes to be found to overturn the Georgia election results. Trump and his surrogates are also criminally vulnerable in the fake elector scheme to steal electoral votes from Joe Biden.
Fulton County Georgia District Attorney Fanni Willis has taken her time over the past two years to thoroughly investigate Donald Trump’s attempts to interfere in the 2020 election results in Georgia. With the conclusion of the special grand jury proceedings, she announced, “indictments are imminent”. Emily Kohr’s foreshadowing that indictments are coming indicates Willis believes credible legal evidence has been revealed. Legal experts say Willis has been through in her investigation as she realized that indicting a former president is unprecedented and will undoubtedly create even more division in an already divided country. However, she is committed to defending the integrity of our elections and our democracy.Hopefully, Attorney General Merrick Garland and special counsel Jack Snith will have the courage Fanni Willis has shown in her questioning of Trump’s behaviors as potentially criminal and her efforts towards justice is proof that no one is above the law.
