BIDEN PASSED 5 LANDMARK BILLS DURING HIS FIRST YEAR
- The American Rescue Plan Act and extending existing Covid-19 programs
- Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act
- Bills to avoid a government shutdown and keep the federal government running
- Juneteenth National Independence Day Act
- Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act
The 1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan gave 1,400 stimulus checks to 90% of Americans and increased weekly unemployment benefits by $300. Any Trump voters, especially in rural communities who still believe the “big lie” should return any money from a President Biden policy. It’s gross behavior to be a hateful MAGA supporter while eating up benefits from the legitimate, democratic president.
The $1.2 trillion dollar bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act invests to restore American roads, bridges, mass transit, rail, airports, ports and waterways. Trump promised but failed at passing an infrastructure bill. The majority of Republicans did not vote for the bill. Thankfully, democrats are trolling the hypocritical GOP Senators who are taking credit for the funding President Biden and the Democrats delivered to their states, despite Republican opposition.
Despite divisive MAGA-controlled Republican party opposition, Biden was able to pass these bills with bipartisan support. However, when it came time to approve the ” human infrastructure” package of The Build Back Better Plan, not one Republican supported it. Republicans do not support funding for federal social programs, despite the reality that many of their constituents utilize these democrat-funded programs. Unfortunately, for reasons suspicious of special interest influences, Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema also refused to vote for the bill. Had these democrats not betrayed their constituents, their president and 98% of their party, inflation would be lower, and so would prescription drug prices, childcare, and healthcare costs. The need for these reforms is probably most needed by the rural MAGA poor who still support the lying ex,-president of the wealthy. The embarrassment of being so duped is coming.
President Biden also ended the 20 year Afghanistan War, which President “Broken Promises” said he would do, but didn’t. Military professionals wished the Afghanistan withdrawal had been less chaotic, but also admitted that exiting a war is a challenging and often messy endeavor. President Biden also approved a military maneuver last week that led to the death of ISIS chief Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi.
President Biden has kept his commitment to pursue voting rights protection bills and policing reform legislation. However, these unkept promises are not Biden’s fault. He supports the proposed bills. However, no Republican member of Congress will vote to protect democracy or eliminate racial injustice in policing. President Biden has kept his promise to elevate more people of color and women into Cabinet positions, the federal judiciary, and the Supreme Court. Trump and Trumpism policies are blatantly racist, which explains the rise in anti-Semitism, violence against Asians, white supremacist hate group resurgence, a love of the Confederacy, and the public presence Neo-Nazis.
