Silent, Weak Republican Senators Are As Responsible For The Trump-Driven Attack On Democracy As The MAGA Senators. Where Are Those Ten Senators Who Voted For A Bi-Partisan Committee To Investigate The Insurrection? Where Are The Seven Senators Who Voted To Impeach Trump? They Are Silent About The “Big Lie”, The GOP Support Of The Insurrectionists, And The Anti- Mask/Anti-Vaccination Campaign. Their Silence Is Screams Out Opportunism, Weakness, And Puts Their Patriotism In Question.

These Senators voted to impeach Trump for inciting the Jan. 6th insurrection. That vote made them a target of Trump’s assault on their careers, so what are they still Farsid of by staying silent about the ” big lie”? Why aren’t they joining House Reps Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney to continue their fight save democracy from the MAGA movement? They shouldn’t get away with staying silent because they are afraid of Trump. They are supposed to be leaders and legislators, not cowardly political opportunists. The Senators who chose their conscience over their party at Trump’s 2nd impeachment trial, but now stay silent about the ” big lie,” and the bogus recounts are;

  • Lisa Murkowski, Alaska
  • Richard Burr, North Carolina
  • Bill Cassidy, Louisiana
  • Susan Collins, Maine
  • Mitt Romney, Utah
  • Been Sasse, Nebraska
  • Pat Toomey, Pennsylvania

The press should be barraging these senators with public questions such as; 1) ” do you believe the election was stolen? 2) ” do you believe the red state recalls are warranted? 3) “do you believe Joe Biden is the legitimate U.S. President? 4) “How do you feel about members of Congress supporting the insurrectionists?” If these Senators would break their silence and publicly choose democracy and integrity over Trump as the autocratic leader of the GOP, the MAGA conspiracy theory ideology might die.

Except for Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney, the 35 House Republicans who voted for a bipartisan commission to investigate the Jan. 6th insurrection have also gone silent. The cowering and hiding these officials are doing is weak, anti- democracy, and is emboldening the Qanon, racist, Trump wing of their party. Elected Republican officials should stop acting like victims of Trump’s takeover of their party. They irresponsibly elected him knowing he was incompetent, corrupt, and racist. Now that they have seen how he has poisoned U.S. politics, damage delection integrity, and normalized propaganda and disinformation, their silence is traitorous.

Senator Mitch McConnell continues to demand 100% fealty to his vision of a hypocritical, one-party system. If the seven Senators would break from Mc Connell’s control and vote and speak their conscience, the conspiracy theory, disinformation wing of their party would be significantly weakened. All elected members of Congress take an oath to defend the Constitution. By supporting Trump, who has violated the Constitutionally in multiple ways, they align themselves with a corrupt form of government that mirrors other autocratic countries. House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy has degraded the integrity of his party. He protects Qanon members of his caucus, while he maligns and demotes opponents of “the big lie” and other conspiracy theories.

History will label the silent members of Congress as co-conspirators in degrading trust in the integrity of U.S. elections, spreading disinformation and propaganda, and downplaying the insurrectionist attack on our democracy at the U.S Capitol on Jan. 6. If Republicans would band together and reject Trump’s corrupt takeover of their party, his power and relevance would cease to exist. Growing a spine and governing with decency and competency is the call to action America is making to these Senators. They are capable of doing the right thing, however, are choosing an avoidance, passive approach to governing. The country needs to heal!
