Republicans use their criticisms of expanded government to justify attacking the social programs that Democrats support and which other countries provide to their citizens. They reject these social programs and show no concern for the groups who desperately need supportive services. They also fail to introduce alternate legislation to provide the necessary aid to address social issues like poverty, racial injustice, mental health, and physical disability. They argue these individual and social problems should be left to the states to handle. However, when fighting causes they care about, such as the 2nd Amendment or restrictions on the access to vote, they demand that the federal government get involved.
It is a documented fact that social programs that provide financial assistance to the poor, disabled, veterans and seniors were enacted by Democratic presidents. Every person over 62 who receives their Social Security checks monthly can thank Franklin Delano Roosevelt, DEMOCRAT, for signing the Social Security Act into law in 1935. Members of the black community and other minorities can thank Lyndon B. Johnson, DEMOCRAT, for signing the Civil Rights Act of 1964 into law as well as the Medicare/Medicaid programs. Those gaining access to affordable healthcare coverage can thank Barack Obama, DEMOCRAT, for signing into law the Affordable Care Act, which provided healthcare to over 20,000,000 million uninsured Americans.
Republican Presidents have not been innovators of programs that provide social services. Their mantle of “fiscal conservatism” could be interpreted as meaning ” sink or swim”, no matter what illness, disability, financial crisis or social injustice one may be facing. The Republican party is an emotionally colder party than the Democratic party. They seem to legislate on the premise that being disadvantaged is either fabricated or should be of no interest to the federal government.
IF THE POLICY OF FISCAL CONSERVATIVISM IS THE RIGHT APPROACH FOR ESTABLISHING A HEALTHY ECONOMY, WHY DID 10 OUT OF THE LAST 11 RECESSIONS OCCUR UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF A REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT AND WHY IS THE DEFICIT LOWER UNDER DEMOCRATIC ADMINISTRATIONS?
Republican elected officials are talented at selling ideas to their constituents by gaslighting them with lies and demonizing rhetoric against Democrats. The United States of America was founded on the two- party system consisting of two parties with different ideological approaches to making America economically strong and morally observant. They also believed a government influenced by the ideologies of both parties would best serve the people and preserve the democracy.
Among the other countless, heinous results of Trump’s presidency will be his normalization of divisiveness and the demonization of the Democratic party. Attempts to destroy and discredit the only other party in a two-party democracy is an attempt to create an autocratic government. Trump supporters need schooling in what a democracy is, what insurrection means, and why any violation of the Constitution should result in the impeachment and removal of a president. History will view the Democrats who served in the House of Representatives during the Trump era as patriots who fought against his attempt to become America’s first dictator.
The programs President Biden is proposing are expensive and extensive in what they hope to accomplish. The president has responsibly done the math and projects his social programs can be funded by increasing the taxes of Americans earning over $400,000. Biden said his goal is to make every American their fair share of taxes.
Those who don’t believe Joe Biden is the legitimate president should not accept the rewards coming their way from Biden’s policies, morality, and competence. The continued commitment to Trump and his anti-democracy lie that the 2020 election was stolen from him reveals an epidemic of people susceptible to brainwashing, racist ideology, and an acceptance for a U.S. president to commit immoral and corrupt acts while in office. The disease of the hunger for power has spread throughout the Republican party like fast-growing cancer. However, the Biden Department of Justice is already taking action to defend the rule of law that Trump and former Attorney General William Barr ignored in the name of autocracy and corrupt self-interest.
